COBIT is a proven set of standardised processes that businesses can use to ensure that information technology is effectively and securely integrated with business goals. COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) was developed by ITGI/ISACA in the early 1990's and has evolved into a global standard for contol over IT processes. 

COBIT is designed to align IT objectives, processes and practices with business objectives. The entire framework strives to demonstrate alignment.  As such, it is a great framework to ensure that IT is in complete understanding with the business.

COBIT helps answer the questions 'Are we doing the right way?' and 'Are we doing them well?'.    It complements and supports Val IT to give a complete framework for IT Governance.
